Job Description

Monoceros is seeking talented software engineering professionals to architect and build a next generation data platform from ground up. This platform will drive how we source, enrich, and store data that integrates into the trading and investment process. Data Engineers will own the technology infrastructure and manage the life cycle of financial data processing starting with how we ingest data from a variety of sources, transform that information into actionable insights, and ultimately build and operate the services, interfaces and APIs used to monetize ideas. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to efficiently extract insights from data. This includes owning the ingestion (Restful APIs, WebSockets, FIX connections, SQL, NoSQL databases, S3/FTP, and Web Scraping etc.,), transformations (Dask, Ignite, Spark, SQL, Kafka, Python/C++/Java), and interface (API, schema design, events)
  • Partner with quantitative researchers, data scientists, traders and investment professionals to design, develop, and deploy critical infrastructure solutions for research, and systematic trading. 
  • Build tools and automation capabilities for data pipelines that improve the efficiency, quality, and resiliency of our data platform
  • Drive the evolution of our data strategy by challenging the status quo and identifying opportunities to enhance our platform

Skillset Requirements

  • Strong interest in financial markets and a desire to work directly with quantitative researchers, portfolio managers and traders.
  • Passion for working with data to accurately model and analyze complex systems such as a publicly traded company, commodity market, economy, financial instruments, crypto currencies, and digital assets.
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as Java or C++ or,  Python
  • Proficiency with RDBMS, NoSQL, Web Services, distributed compute platforms such as Spark, Dask or HadoopExperience with one or more of the following systems: AWS solutions, Jupyter, Kafka, Dask, Docker, Kubernetes, and SnowflakeFamiliarity with time-series databases, numerical analysis packages such as Pandas and NumPy, and machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills 
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
